    Thanks Rick,
True the walmart Blk&decker definitely didnt do the trick. The panels and the 2-12v setup I have running parallel seems to running okay. I’ll know more when the new inverter is in place. I’ll post a video later this week

    That would be great!
    Please send me the video!
Your system sounds great don’t get discouraged!!! keep going !!
    It will pay off …….rick.

Good ideas, very cool. Only thing I see that you may want to change is how the battery vents… if it’s using the same vent as the dryer it’s potentially a fire hazard… batteries vent hydrogen, not sure you want to be supplying the hot element in your dryer with hydrogen

You will have to watch part 2 on this
video….You will be happy to see………

They have a ton of songs like this.

    HARBOR FREIGHT!
I love them. I got a ton of tools from them.
I had no idea they sold solar panels.
I got an auto-changing welding helmet for $30 bucks when they are 120+ else where.

  8. london1817 says:

    You are soo right!!
I just got a winch for my suzuki samurai.
I love walking around checking out stuff there…Hahaha…that was a great deal on that welding helmet!!! good score!!

    Hey thanks…What is his link???

Are you sure the batteries in the wooden case is a good idea ? I’m just curious, don’t have any clue about things like that really.

  12. london1817 says:

    No problem man!
    Wood doesn’t hurt batteries.

  13. TuberCharged says:

How long ’till you save $250 on those monster 5 watt bulbs you got goin’?

  14. london1817 says:

How much do you have in your savings accout right now?

  15. xIntoThePitx says:

At a rate of 7.2cents/kWh (avg TOU prices per 24hrs[my rate])

    (2x5W) x 24hours = 0.24kWh
    0.24 x 365 days = 87.6kWh year
    87.6 x 7.2 cents = 630.72 cents ($6.31)

So if those 2 lights were on 24/7 for 1 year, it would cost $6 and 31 cents to power.

    $250/$6.31 = 39.62 years to break even. (excluding maintenance/repairs)

Cool setup, but in reality it’s costing money. Up the battery count and use them to run the dishwasher or something that sucks the juice! Just needs an inverter.

  16. london1817 says:

I just thought it was a good back up.
    I like them.
I don’t think I have ever bought anything I broke even on……….maybe beer.

  17. xIntoThePitx says:

@london1817 – It’s cool, I like them too. Part 2 is great, using its potential.

  18. london1817 says:

    Haha,
Thanks…I am using 16 watt bulbs now & that small TV…….I have a wood stove …so when the power goes out we are OK….I would like to get a solar water heater then I would be almost off the grid………Rick.

Everyone search “15w solar panel” in google shopping and find the one for $40!!! Buy 3 for $120, a 7A charge controller for $25 and a 12v around $30. So thats around $175 for basically the same system at harbor freight with a battery but without the lights or crappy inverter, which can be bought cheaply online. This could easily run the most used lights in your home and save even more $. Hope I helped someone.

  20. london1817 says:

You should have told me sooner.
    That’s a great deal.

  21. zzytrewq says:

It isn’t always about being cost effective. If you draw less power from the grid, and the grid power comes from a polluting type source (i.e. coal) then you are doing your bit for the environment.

    Well done.

Great video, I’ve made some video tutorials witch can help peoples to build their own renewable energy systems at home. 63 W solar panel and a wind turbine from an AC electric motor witch has been modified to produce electricity. If you want, you can have a look : eco-energy-systems . com . Delete the spaces to make it active. Good job uploader!

  23. london1817 says:

Thats what I wanted to hear today!! Thanks……….Rick.

  24. london1817 says:

  25. watchyerbak says:
